Road Cycling
Scarborough Paragon Cycling Club is, in the main, a road biking club. Some of our members participate in time trials or road races whilst some just enjoy coming out on the club rides. Road Cycling is a great way to keep fit and enjoy the countryside around Scarborough.
The best way to enjoy road biking is to firstly ensure you have a cycle built for the roads, similar to the one below:

A mountain bike is generally too heavy, the gearing is not designed for road use and even with road tyres the bikes are hard work to cover many miles on the road.

This is simply a race run on either closed circuits or open roads where all the riders start together and the first rider over the line wins. These races are run by local clubs and can be covered under the rules of British Cycling or other road racing organisations.
