Burton Fleming Inter Club - Sunday 10th October at 11am
31 riders took part today, great turn-out on a pleasant sunny and reasonably warm Sunday morning (for a change). There was an Easterly breeze making it a tough finish leg again (same as for the Open 10m in September, but perhaps less windy).
Well done to all the riders, some good times posted. Everyone got a prize and BIG THANKS to all who helped out today, and to Stan Chadwick for covering the cost of hiring the Village Hall at Burton Fleming. Thanks to the donors of the catering - some who couldn't attend themselves, but ensured they helped in some way by doing this.

Hackness Hillclimb Sunday 26th September 11-00am
13Deg C dry course with an annoying Northerly wind of 15mph'ish, this blows down the top straight section making for a difficult finish.
8 riders tested themselves today against the hill that was used for the first time in 1954, 4 SPCC and 4 guest rides.
Callum Norris came for a go at the end and made it up the hill for the first time, he timed himself but I don't know what time this was. Well done.

Mountain 43m Sunday 12th September
Due to roadworks it was in fact a Mtn 40m event.
15degC at the start rising through the event in the warm sunshine.
WSW 10-12mph in the vail of Pickering but NE'ley ????? on the Whitby rd and through Hardwood Dale. No wind in Forge Valley. Wet roads all the way round from the early morning downpour. I lost my water bottle(2nd time in 3 years on this event) so went back for it and lost 40secs (I had just timed the gap to Matt at 8sec - then 48sec)
Mike's front mech brazing failed about 1m from the finish line, unlucky but lucky to be so close. I warmed down by going back down F/Valley and saw him so found out what had happened, went back to the car got so tools and took them back to him. Mike would have done about 1:56 ish otherwise.

Snainton 10m TT Ken/Len 6 17/8/2010
19 riders came out for the final round in the Ken/Len series of 10m time trials which had to be shorter than normal due to road works on the start/finish straight. So it was an 8m TT which is just short of two laps of the triangle.
21°C with a NW wind of about 8-10mph, sunny to start with for the early riders but with black clouds lurking not too far away by the time the last rider set off it was spitting with rain. This then turned into a torrential downpour with ‘rivers’ running down Allerston Rd just before Yedingham, the race would have surely been cancelled if it was like that to start with.
Thanks to all timekeepers & helpers for standing out in the rain, it must have been grim.
(but not as grim as riding in it)

Irton/Seamer 25m & 5m TT 8/6/10
14° C. Wind from the NW again same as last night. Heavy rain in the afternoon made the 25m course flooded so there was only the 5m short option available to the riders tonight. Light drizzle before the start of the race eased off to nothing by the start time. The course was never the less slippy this made for careful cornering round the r/abouts and lost time because of it.

Well done to everyone on their results. You all have a target to beat next time now, so let's hope the weather is kind to us again, otherwise we will struggle to get any extra PB points! Tonight must have been the best conditions we've ever had on this course.
I hope you can all come along in a fortnight's time to do it all again. Bring along your friends and supporters and spread the word.

Snainton 10m TT 18/4/10
Yes, it was great to welcome more females to the club, Sarah Peaker and Julia Kirkman and young Bronwen showing promise again at 13 years.
This is the report submitted to Scarborough Evening News:
"Recent sunshine has brought out an increasing number of Scarborough Paragon Cycling Club members to compete in time trials. On Sunday morning a ten mile event was held on the Snainton/Yedingham circuit, where 18 riders faced timekeeper Chris Goode.
Comeback man Brian Stephenson produced the best time on the sunny but cool morning with a time of 24:30, closely followed by Mike Potter with an improved performance of 24:49 and third placed Dave Priestman on 26:40. A cluster of middle markers made the competition more interesting, with Matt Purnell leading the way with 27:07, an improvement of over 2 minutes in only his second 10m race. Barrie Cappleman did 27:11 and a personal best for Mike Scott of 28:00, this week turning the tables on his son Lewis, who continues to show his improved and consistent form, recording 28:38, not far short of his personal best. Mention must also be made of a brilliant ride by septuagenarian Brian Ward who did 28:07 and Tony Graves who continues to improve, this time just outside his target of 30 minutes, a personal best of 30:10 nonetheless. Jim Morrison off number one, and first across the line, had a lonely ride to record 29:09 and 13 year old schoolgirl Bronwen Owen did a great time of 31:08, showing promise for the summer season ahead. The lower end of the field also had a close run competition between themselves. Paragon are pleased to welcome two new female members riding their first time trial; Sarah Peaker did 34:37 and Julia Kirkman 36:02. Terry Lynch stopped the clock on 34:15 and Matthew Graves was timed at 34:52, consistent with last week’s 5 mile race speed and giving him something to build on this season. There were three guest riders; Derek Owen did 26:12 (NYP Tri Club), Dan Joyce 26:21 and Jeff Francis 27:17 (Richardsons CC). These were also personal best times for Derek and Jeff.

Seamer/Irton 25m / 5m TT 11/4/10
A great turn-out again of a total of 14 riders, 3 for the 5m short course option and 11 for the 25m.
The weather was pleasant but chilly with a head wind back from Snainton, making it hard work.
The winner of the Novice Cup is new member Matt Purnell with an excellent time of 1:12:04 in his first attempt at the distance.
Two other riders were also racing 25m for the first time, Lewis made a great effort to 1:18:08 and Tony Graves did 1:21:54, who seems to have got keen after watching his son Matthew ride the Come & Try It 5m events last summer.
Fastest ride was by Mike Potter 1:05:17 and Malton Wheeler Mark Devine next on 1:07:07. Guest riders Sarah and Derek Owen did good times of 1:10:20 and 1:09:42 respectively.
The 5 milers were set off after the 25 milers. This is a new idea to give riders more choice - 2 races in 1 effectively.
Young Matthew Graves improved at the distance to 17:51, to set the standard for this course for other juveniles. Chris Goode did a good time of 13:46 and Terry Lynch 17:28. This 5m course will prove to be faster than the Scalby circuit, even considering riding through Seamer village to finish the circuit.
